I don't know if this falls into the "pill" catagory for you or not , but I have taken an ordinary antacid tablet like Tums to reduce the buildup of lactic acid.
Don't forget water! I have found that I can not always tell the difference between hunger and thirst.

Bicycle racer used to, probably some still do, carry Tums to help keep from cramping. I think it is the calcium, but don't quote me.

I'll recommend the workout I've been doing for the past three-four years: Matt Furey's Combat Conditioning. It looks expensive, but it is the real deal. I've never felt better - not even back when I was on the high school swim team. It's full body, and stretches and strengthens all at once.

Read his website, and do your best to avoid feeling like he's just a huckster. His workouts are the real deal.

    TIGER BALM!

Also, when I am teaching, I will be MUCH more concerned about warming my students up than stretching them out. Warm muscles will stretch with use but cold muscles just tear and cramp.
