    last night was terrible

Late last night I went for a long walk - I didn't leave my place until around 11:00 and I had planned to be out for two hours.

Well, about a mile from my place I came to a spot in the sidewalk where these guys sitting in this broken-down car were blocking the sidewalk and I had to walk around them, in back of the car.

They all literally broke out in wild laughter and started yelling "nice skirt" and I don't know what else they were saying, they were all yelling at the same time. I was SO ANGRY! I thought of picking up a large rock (we have several of these here in the desert) and firing it at them but decided that was not wise. Then I thought of walking towards them and telling them it is a KILT and where the H*** have they been all their lives that they don't FREAKING know what a kilt is?????

However.....everyone here in Phoenix has guns and these guys were clearly lowlifes and while I have always thought it might be nice to be famous......I didn't want to get on the evening news as another victim of violent crime in our fine city so I just kept walking and pretended they weren't there.

Later they caught up with me in their old car and purposely all laughed quite loudly as they drove by.

What the HECK is wrong with some people anyway? These guys in my opinion needed to GET A LIFE!!! So....the rest of my walk was spent thinking of getting together a bunch of kilted friends and finding where these guys lived and paying them a little visit....but that's another topic, a side of myself I would rather not reveal....

    Thumbs up

Sounds like a bunch of little "boys" looking for trouble, because their fathers never taught them any respect, and they thought they found an easy "mark" to take their aggressions out on. I guess they think that insulting someone makes them "men".
You were the MUCH BIGGER "MAN" than those CLOWNS could ever be! My hat is off to you! You have my respect!
They were losers, and they KNEW they were losers, and you showed them that they couldn't provoke you into a conflict, which would have possibly ended badly. Super mad props to you!!!! You handled the situation with intelligence and maturity, if not for being wise!

You handled this very well, Phil. They are a product of their environment, and loaded with insecurity. Consider the source and forget about it. You demonstrated that it takes a real man to wear a kilt.

No, what those guys need to do is get a kilt! They're just frustrated because they're stuck in the dogma that keeps them in pants. Their jealousy should've been apparent. They don't need anger, only patience and a little pity. They'll be kilted in about 4-6 years.

Of course, when they are, they'll still be jerks, probably. Instead of roaring with laughter at your kilt, they'll be set off by your clan or your sporran or something. ("LEATHER sporran?! HA HA HA!! That guy can't even get a f***ing fur sporran!!")

Oh, and a working car. That's what those guys need. If their car had been in working order, they never would've met you ... and, likely, never would've vented their frustrations at you, either.

Phil, it was clearly a very unnearving experience. You did well, both for your personal safety (not a small thing) and also as a decent human being. At the end of the day, a more violent reaction on your part would have placed you right at their level. And the reason you won't go find them with a bunch of kilted friends? You are above that. I say, well done, though very unpleasant.

When you're not part of the herd or pack...you're a threat. They have no mind of their own...they just try to protect the herd. It's almost cute...better not try to feed them

Just know that they probably found trouble sometime after they encountered you and that they now know what handcuffs and a cold jail cell feel like. If they allready didn't know that feeling?

Phil, most likely they were jealous! often when faced with people like that I think to myself 'they really want to wear a kilt, but they don't have what it takes...so they mock'.

Just pity them! they're heading for a bad end.

Every time I go visit my parents across town, I think this will happen. They still live in the home of my youth. Unfortunately it's plopped right in the middle of the "Southside" which has long been heavily populated with "cholos" "vatos" "esses (sp?)" and all sorts of testosterone filled "gang bangers." I just know I'm going to get hassled one of these days. I'm really not worried about it unless there's an exceptionally large group of them.

You did the right thing. Just ignore them and go about your business.

Well that's sad. Such aggressive young men and they aren't able to recogize cajones when they see them.

Such behavior is certain to bring them to grief in another venue ere long....
    You handled it well.
