Hi AA,
Kinloch Anderson of Leith, Edinburgh had their 4yd Breacan available in the Tartan Army tartan - it was my first purchase from them, back in 1998. However, I've just popped back to their website to check and find that they no longer list it among the tartans currently available in the Breacan! This strikes me as being odd as they created this inexpensive kilt for "wear to the game" - they also designed the Tartan Army tartan!
Anyway, here is a link to the relevant part of their site:

And here's an old photo (!) of me wearing my Tartan Army Breacan:

Sorry, I cannot help you beyond this.

When I was in Londonderry last year on the 12th of July, I saw several kilts in the parade. Though it could hardly be thought of as casual wear, it was still nice to see. The first time my father and I attended the 12th parade in Toronto, we were the only kilt wearers. Now, every year we go back, there are more and more kilts to be seen. I think it's fantastic ... sure beats the old black suit and bowler!!

WAIT A MINUTE!
Tartan-Army Tartan?!
Is this something that is informally used by those folks who wear their kilts just cause? I mean, what else could be called the tartan-army?
More info if someone could elaborate a little, please.

The Tartan Army is the name the travelling supporters of the Scottish football (soccer) team.

That's neat. And a fun way to support the sport.
How many made an appearance for the World Cup?
Not that I am necessarily a football fan, but I have watched the world cup from time to time... although I cannot travel due to budget and time constraints really. More time issues than anything though. I used to watch it more when I was younger, and living overseas though. Still one of the best examples of competition on a global scale, aside from the Olympics. One of the things I could never grasp was why in baseball, the championship was dubbed the "World Series", despite the fact that it is based solely within the U.S.
I tend to root for Germany though... my mother is German, and my uncle played for the local/regional team (Bayern if my memory serves, it's been a number of years).

It was amazing how many St George flags could be spotted being flown on vehicles in the rest of the UK during the World Cup.
Traditional rivalries were put aside in a generous show of support.
Some years ago only Scotland qualified and I do not recall (I was then living in England) seeing a similar outpouring of the Saltire on vehicles in England.
If it happened again, or if Wales were to qualify, I would hope that the same spirit would now be shown.

If Wales were to qualify I'd want them to win it!!
Couldn't say the same for England though, they're always "going to win it" anyway, they don't need my support. And I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the St' George's Cross waving Scots didn't have some other football 'affiliation' guiding that.
