recommendations?
Hey everyone.
I am fishing for recommendations...
I have a small handful of pipe and drum bands like the Tinkers, and Saor Patrol... as well as some cds of massed pipes and drums.
What else is out there that often uses the highland bagpipes? I know of a band called Molly's Revenge, who played at the last Enumclaw games who were pretty good.
Some traditional styled "cletic" stuff would be ok too, but please note which groups play what if you please.
I know there were a few well noted Pipe Majors as well...
if anyone can make recommendations here as well, that would be great... and perhaps reliable websites to buy from.... amazon.com is often used, but is there anything more specialized?

Highlander Radio is a very good place to listen and get a feel for the artists.

The Tannahill Weavers (trad. Celtic)
Web Site
They also do one of the best concerts I've ever seen from anyone, folk or otherwise. Lots of audience interaction, great energy, wonderful music. They're really nice guys, too.

Cowboy Celtic:

A great Alberta-based band that focuses on the Scottish and Irish roots of Cowboy music. A pieces with pipes.
Cheers,
Todd

Gaelic Storm is more 'Rock and Reel', but they often use pipes.

MusicScotland
You might want to check out http://www.musicscotland.com
I ordered a couple of CDs from them recently and the service was quick.

Thanks for the input. I have signed up with highland radio, and I have checked out the Tannahill Weavers' website, and sent an email regarding their discs... they have a "listen section" on their website, and the sound is pretty nice.
I have yet to check out the other bands...
Gaelic Storm... rock and reel... sorta like the sound of that. I'll have to google them or something.

I have some Dropkick, and all of FM, provided that they haven't released anything new, I had the whole Pogues discography, but trimmed that down to just the stuff w/ Shen on vox. And yes, I also have the stuff from the Popes as well.
