Indy Irish Fest was AWESOME!!!
Man, I had a great time at the Indianapolis Irish Festival today!! I managed to get free parking by parking on the street six blocks away (had to fight the stinking Colts fans for access).
I got there just in time to register for the Reddest Hair/Greenest Eyes/Most Freckles contest. At first I thought it was just for kids, but they said it was all ages, so I signed up. When I came back for the judging, I thought: 'Y'know, if I'm the only adult doing this, I'm going to feel real stupid' but there ended up being seven adults, so it wasn't all bad. I won Reddest Hair and the prize for Reddest Hair, Greenest Eyes, and Most Freckles overall, despite the fact that my eyes are blue. The judge said they didn't look blue to him.
I didn't buy anything because I'm broke as a joke, but I got some food, I won some trinkets in the contest, and they rescheduled the band line-up so I got to see Gaelic Storm!! Yay!! But Patrick Murphy's engaged now so much for that fantasy.
I hung out with some friends in the Ladies Order of Hibernians and danced like a fool in my O'Neille mini-kilt to Gaelic Storm and Gael Sil.
The only bad thing is that the batteries in my camera died the second I walked through the gate, but I swear the Fest photographers were stalking me, so I'll probably have some pics when they update the site in a few days.
I also had a mini-me in tow; the girl who won Reddest Hair, Greenest Eyes, and Most Freckles for the 6 and under group could have passed for my daughter and a lot of people thought she was. We were dancing together at the concerts and playing together.
I got to park for free all day and I just beat the rain home. It was a good day.

We hit Celtic Fest here in Chicago and didn't beat the rain home...as we got off the commuter train we got soaked. Hmmmm....wet wool....
Glad you got to see Gaelic Storm...we weren't able to stay at ours for any of the "big" acts but did manage to see a Galician band (whose name I am desperately trying to remember) that truly kicked @$$. I highly recommend Galician Music.
So you cleaned up on the red-hair-and-freckles contest, eh? Super! As a red haired guy, I was so hoping that one of my kids would get the blessing/curse of red-headedness but no such luck. The beauty thing is that that gene is still lurking in them somewhere and could come along when they get around to having their own kids.....(evil laughter).
Glad to hear that the Celts in Indianapolis know how to party...
Best

I'll second that
Yes, it was. I have a habit of going every year myself. I noticed Utilikilts was well represented and seem to have flew off the racks. Celtic Croft , as usual, made it's annual appearance. So we had at least two vendors selling 'Freedom.'
Midwesterners should at least make the pilgrimage to the Indianapolis Irish Fest , it's worth the time.
Looking at your avatar, I could swear I saw you watching Silver Arm knitting something.

Too bad about the camera, I was hoping to see the kilt in action again. Glad you made this one and had enough fuel to get there and back home. Glad you won the contest. O'Neille

It's just starting to cool off here. They will be great this winter. I'm glad they got to travel to the Irish festival. O'Neille
