    Tucson - Seven Pipers Grand Ceilidh

    Seven Pipers Society Grand Ceilidh


    The <a href="http://www.sevenpipers.org/">Seven Pipers Scottish Society</a> is holding a start-of-the-season Grand Ceilidh, a conglomeration of folks singing, dancing, piping, drumming, laughing, clowning, visiting, and generally having a whole lot of fun, at First United Methodist Church, 915 E. 4th Street (on Park and 4th, just southwest of the UA west gate) at 7 p.m. This family-friendly evening will be interspersed with various ceilidh acts: bagpipes and drums, Highland dances (high-intensity performance and competition dances), vocalists (prepare to sing along), Scottish country dances (the social dances of Scotland˜join in), and more.
    There is a free parking lot on the west side of church, and parking at Tyndall Garage (after 5 p.m. $1/hr, $3 maximum), and in metered spaces distributed along Tyndall and University (free after 5 p.m.). For those who are interested, gather at 6:45 p.m. at Centennial Hall for a promenade with a bagpiper to the Ceilidh (about 100 yards). You can leave your belongings beforehand at the church.
    The price is $5 for adults, $8 for families. Food includes potluck goodies, munchies, and non-alcoholicr refreshments. If you‚d like to bring food or drink (not required), please coordinate with <a href="mailto:gcordy@dakotacom.net">Gail Cordy</a>, 319-8468. There will also be a silent auction. Attire is casual or slightly dressy, and, if you‚re interested in trying a dance (or 2 or 3), bring soft-soled shoes.
