Being overweight or not is not the cause of the problem. I had heat rash and chaffing problems since High School 30+ years ago. I was not overweight then, though some would consider me as overweight now at 6'2" 220 lbs.
Agreed. When I was a svelte and slinky 20 year old I got shipped to San Angelo TX by the Air Force and got heat rash over the whole area so bad it actually effected my sex life. And *that* was wearing loose, long shorts!

Even at my heaviest since, I have experienced nothing more than a few bumps.

This is a product I've not found on store shelves in my area. On the other hand, that's not a problem because I've never had a problem with chafing or rashes associated with wearing a kilt... and I've walked many many miles whilst kilted. Also, I'm not sure I'd want to risk getting the stuff on a good kilt.

My first lenghty time kilted I experienced a minor case of helmet rub from the SWK saffron. I decided there that I wanted the freedom of going regimental w/o the potential discomfort. I wear large boxers, with flat elastic waistbands, with the cr0tch cut out - no rub, fully regmental, fully functional Two of the boxers have a large, roaring head of King Kong on them ($2 on the clearance rack at Kohls). The colors actually go well with the saffron. If I get the Question, I can raise the apron and roar. (Judiciously exercized, of course). I don't have to put chemicals on my parts, and the kilt is protected from body oil by an easily washed undergarment. I have seen at least one other poster who does this.

I can only surmise that nothing underneath was a uniform regulation to facilitate normal body functions w/o having to unkilt. That is the main functional purpose of going regimental. Many soldiers would sew a square of soft cloth under the underkilt to prevent rubbing (not that it would prevent butt chafing).

    I highly recommend this approach.
