Ah yes! Buzz Kidder canvas. A very nice, comfortable, and indeed sturdy kilt. I have one in Olive that I purchased from the games in Flagstaff back over the honeymoon. Highly recommended for a non-tartan kilt. I wear mine often. There is a picture in my photo album (link in my signature V)

The Buzz Kidder is a very nice sturdy kilt. However, one bad point is that you have to iron it frequently.

I just bought a Buzz Kidder. Got it last Friday and I'm getting another one.
It's a good kilt so far.

I have one - olive canvas. Love it! Nice trad cut, but I'm not afraid to wear it in the mud. Highly recommend it.

Nope, sorry, I don't have any experience with Sportkilt. I'm planning on buying the Army tartan one of these days, but it's pretty low on my list. I'm trying to get my cousin Billy (red2drcelica) to buy the Henderson tartan from them so we can have a gander.

Yep, I've got a Buzz Kidder that I picked up from the Scottish Tartans Museum for a working kilt. They must have changed the design recently as on the website they say that it has one buckle and velcro to fasten it. Mine has a buckle at each hip and no velcro. They say it is canvas (cotton duck) but the material seems very much like both my FK and my UK Mocker and unlike my canvas UK Workmans. The first week I wore it at work both the left edge of the apron and the reverse pleat on the right side opened up like they wanted to be pleated another inch and a half outboard- which looked a little silly since the pleats are edge sewn. I took it home, removed the edge stitching, ironed in a new pleat just where it wanted to be and edge stitched that. Its behaving itself better this week, but I think this weekend I'll take out the hem on the right side of the apron and move it outboard to match the left side (and reduce the 10 inch reveal on the reverse pleat.) Then I'll take out the hem on the underapron and move it outboard in order to get a little more overlap of the aprons. (Currently the underapron starts near the left hip but ends at the bottom between my knees.) Of all my kilts, this one is the most prone to creasing and the most in need of an ironing after washing. I may end up stitching the pleats down to the fell as they are currently only stitched down about 3 or 4 inches. I'm no kilt maker, but I have the impression that there is not enough tapering between the waist and the hips. With only a five inch differential between my waist and my butt, I don't think I'm abnormal but the pleats seem to want to open up as they pass over the fat part of my tush. Though I'm still in the process of re-engineering it, I still like it a lot, particularly for its more traditional styling. For the price, I'm not complaining.

Nancyman,
I did notice the vendor I bought mine from at the Flagstaff games had some of the "older" style with a buckle at each hip. Mine has the buckle on the right with velcro at the left. I haven't seen any problems with the reverse pleat or the fell/sewn down pleat portions. It does tend to crease after a wash. But, that's of course due ot the fabric itself.

Heath,
If you do get a SportKilt pay for the custom length, sewn down pleats, and belt loops to the size of your belt. By the time you have that price built up you ought to look at USA Kilts casuals and compare.
I don't have a Buzz Kidder kilt because the ones I've seen at games all had curled pleats at the bottom, but I suspect that was more lack of interest in presentation by the vendors than in the kilt construction. Some ironing or a Black and Decker Gizmo might tame them - if you even got them.
Why not buy one of each? You know you want to....
