    You might try bronze welding (brazing rod) it's fairly rigid and should hold up well. Other types of brazing rod may even be more suited to the job. O'Neille

    If it's too stiff try heating it till it's red then quench it in water.

    Great idea, they will work and don't require annealing. I was thinking some 6061 T6 and just anneal the loop would work well too. O'Neille

    18th century cast buckles used iron thorns

    The aluminium snapped when I bent it...no harm done...I now use steel tent pegs...works perfect
