Thank you sir. So it's not a clan tartan, but potentially worn by GU alumnae.
Or anyone who really likes the look.

As an alumnus, what do you think of non-alums wearing it, especially if they (I mean I) are Gordon?

Turpin:
I could swear that I have also seen a tartan listed as Gordon Blue modern, but I am not sure if it is the same tartan. It seems that they are, at first glance...
I'll have to dig and see if there is anything pointing to a different source!

Locharron lists it as "Gordon blue", but it is the same tartan.
Hmm... Matt can you clarify any of this?

It wouldn't bother me at all! I guess the tartan isn't so strongly linked to the university and it wouldn't really bother me anyway.
What's it they say? There's no such thing as bad publicity!

It was from the Lochcarron website that I got the picture Colin so kindly posted.

It's indeed a smart tartan. Hopefully Matt can get it sorted out for you...

Yeah, huh! I like it too, naturally. It is hard to beat a mix of black and blue.
Turpin,
have you seen the Gordon of Huntly memorial tartan (it was created for the 2000 gathering)? Its a muted tone, and also has either black, or a muted colour that looks black on my monitor, with blue in it, and it looks sharp as well.

Gordon blue stuff...
RGU Tartan thread count is:
K14, R6, K48, RB56, Y6
key:
K = Black
R = Red
RB = Royal Blue (I think)
Y = Yellow
==========================================
Maybe the "royal blue" is just "blue" in Gordon Blue, with the same thread counts and sett? Matt will have to clear this up. Although he's probably busy right now......sewing kilts.... sewing MINE!
=============================
I'm glad someone(turpin) brought this topic(tartan) up, it's a very nice tartan. I already like it as much as MacKay Blue (AKA Morgan).
