    Another excellent tour, thanks.

    Was Hizzie from Hawick? He was one hell of an impressive rider, especially around the Isle of man. Some of our readers may not know that Steve Hislop died in a helicopter crash (back in 2003, I think).

    Hizzie came from a village called Denholm, about five miles from Hawick, although he lived on the Isle of Man. He had been on his way back to Isle of Man in his helicopter after a visit to his mother in Denholm when he crashed. There is a memorial cairn at the crash site, about ten miles south of Hawick. There is also a Hizzie statue and monument in Wilton Lodge Park, Hawick, close to the statue of Jimmy Guthrie.
