Good site for kilting pics

ai did discover (sadly) that the kilt nichts they hold in Edinburgh were for "men only" which disappointed me... (at least this wuz true aboot a year ago...)

But it is still serious in its intent to promote the cause of kilting both inside and outside of Scotland. One's orientation doesn't ultimately matter in that respect and whereas its approach may sometimes be a little different to X Marks it seeks to have a broader appeal in the topics it covers and can thus be complimentary.

There is plenty on Scottish history and culture, recommendations of places to see and visit, recipies, media etc. There is advice on kilt wearing for casual, semi formal and formal occasions. There is coverage of highland games, tattoos and rugby also.

I wondered if it was a bit 'how's-yer-father', they seem to have an obsession with male nudity, and what's under the kilt.

This seems to work against what I see Xmarks is doing, which is to promote a serious and mature appreciation of kilt wearing while avoiding the endless and childish fetish with whether men wear anything under the kilt.

I think the site is childish and counter-productive on the whole, some good photos there though.

For the most part it's no worse than a "Carry On" bit of fun and nothing different to what you would have seen on the famous saucy seaside postcards of Donald McGill.

And it is serious about kilt wearing but doesn't see anything wrong with a little humour to boot.

I recommend the film The Hasty Heart (1949) starring Richard Todd and Ronald Regan. It shows that there is a long tradition of a little kilted humour even amongst the circumstances of a tragic fatal illness.
