It looks to me that they tried to style it after a military dress sporran and it just doesn't work. Far too cluttered looking.

0 or 3 for daywear, 3 or maybe 5 "cross link" for a dress sporran. I'm not fond of the fluffy fur tassels...I prefer the "brush" type.
For semi-dress I prefer a leather sporran without fur...with a cantle and studded tassels.
I like the look of the classic Argyll and Sutherland badger sporran with the 6 tassels...will look great with a full dress doublet outfit :rolleyes:

On a more serious note though, is there any significants to the number or is it just personal preferance on decoration? I never thougt about it before, but now I'd like to know.

And I see that the sporran in the link Cavscout posted has 1...2...5!!!
