    Personalized Cards With New Kilts

Something new for me. My last two kilts have come with personalized cards from the kiltmaker.

My new maroon dress model Freedom Kilt included a card that says, "This Dress Kilt Made for Ron Macdonald."

Inside there's a page on "Care and Feeding" and another page with the fabric content - in this case 65%/35% Polyester/Cotton 9 oz maroon twill.

Then there's the Freedom Kilts Guarantee signed by Steve.

The back page has the size it was sewn to, waist, hips, drop, fell, and slope. Then the options and the fit.

A pretty classy thing. Everything is right there and easy to read.

And, my hand sewn 16 oz Strome hand sewn Scott Modern Red from Kathy Lare had a similar card called "Your Certificate of Authentic Kilt Registration"...and again, my name.

The tartan is shown as 16 oz Strome in the Modern Scott, the fabric is woven in Scotland by Lochcarren. The date of the kilt completion by Kathy Lare and her registration number.

Inside is a replica of the label in the kilt noting the kilt was "Handcrafted by a member of The Traditional Kiltmaker's Guild" and that the kilt is made from authentic 100% Worsted Wool kilting fabric. The kilt is guaranteed 95% hand crafted by a member of the Guild who is qualified to at least the Scottish Qualifications Authority standards TN0503701 to my personal specifications. They show the Guild's website www.traditionalkiltmakersguild.co.uk

Then there's a statement, "Trained at the Keith Kilt School, Robert McBain Masterkiltmaker. Awards in the following - 1997 Traditional Handcraft Kiltmaking Skills, Professional Development Award, 1999 Military Box Pleated kilts.

The third page has care instructions. The Back has Kathy's address and website info.

So, two kilts, two detailed kilt information cards. A nice touch I say.

And, I am merely pointing out the unique customer service for these two kiltmakers deciding to include personalized cards with care information on them. Don't want another discussion of the worth of various certifications. Thank you.

    Hey Ron,

That sounds really cool. I'm curious about your Kathy Lare kilts. Do you have 2 or 3 from her? Was she going to do the same for other kilts she made for ya?

One a slightly different note, do your USA kilt have any tags on the inside? I was slightly surprised that my semi-traditional does not have any USA kilt label on it any where.

Do your USA kilts have any tags/labels?

    Cheers

Don't forget about the Scottish Tartans Authority's Kilt Passport:

Our own Matt Newsome provides them with each of his kilts.

    Cheers,

    Okay Efer,

I have five hand sewn kilts by Kathy Lare, the Macdonald Lord of the Isles Hunting, Macdonald of Kingsburgh, Cameron Black and Red, X Marks the Scot, and this new Scott Modern Red. These are my deep clan colors.

This fifth kilt is the first that has had the card with it - the newness is why I posted...happening both for Kathy and Steve Ashton at Freedom Kilts within a few weeks. Maybe because both are USMC families...they know class....

All three of my USA Kilts semi-traditionals have USA Kilts tags in them. They're between the inside and outside apron - easy to miss if you're a pull on guy instead of a strap on guy.

    And Aye Todd,

I have a kilt passport...But I got mine from Scottish Tartans Authority when I enrolled. Its not filled out by the kiltmaker. Cool if Matt fills them out and sends them with his kilts.

That is a really classy touch, Ron. Good for Steve and Kathy for making the kilt a personalized deal.
