    A piece of tartan?

Does anyone know where to find an inexpensive piece of tartan for cap badge backing? I need about 4"X4".

    Thanks

I know JUST what you need. Go to any decent kiltmaker's site (tartan museum is a good one) and order a "tartan swatch." Tartan museum charges $5. And, since it's a tartan swatch from the mills, you can get whatever clan, district, whatever you want.

Good idea - but a heads up, there will be a shipping charge on top of the swatch cost. If I rememer right, the shipping fee is also $5.00.

Oh yes, that's right. I haven't actually ordered one from them. I was waiting until I was ready to make a "full order." I know you can order swatches through Kathy Lare too. I think she simply charges five bucks. Not 100% on that though. The two swatches I requested from her she had scraps of lying about. She's a real sweetheart and sent them to me free of charge.

See if Gordon at Fraser and Kirkbright has anything he can toss in the post http://www.wooltartans.com/index.htm

F&K are in Vancouver, so no huge postage fees. I have ordered from them in the past and they are great. They also did the Xmarks tartan that you see on the sidebars of this site.

I have _tons_ of scraps and would be happy to pop one into the mail for you if I have anything you'd like. PM me, and let me know what you're interested in.
