    iMac update

Well today I took my bite of the Apple. I came away with a smile and laugh it was just like ordering my first kilt (I have 4 now)

I'd done my Homework (Thanks all that sent me advice and PM's) Dee I get a standard keyboard anyway (The Guy in the store said I'd done my homework well because it was something he hadn't thought about.)

I Ordered a 20" with the Spec's in the earlier thread. As it's CTO (Created to Order..I love that .Created not just made Just like kilts are created from tartan cloth) I'll have to wait 1-5 weeks (Sounds familiar)

The only difference being I didn't have to part with my cash up front......Now it's just the long wait.

I've waited for kilts so this will be a easy . I'll spend sometime picking out what I want to transfer to my new iMac
    All the Best.....David.

Don't count on being able to settle comfortably into a state of jonesing for the Mac...they seem to be able to put what you want together and get it to you with a speed approaching Stillwater standards. When my kids have ordered iPods with the engraving they've shot out of Singapore faster than anything has a right to. Amazing...

David, I spent the evening looking for tutorials on the basics of Mac os, and how to use it.

I think my transition from PC/Windows will be slow and uphill. How do you propose to learn? by playing around with the iMac when it comes?

I put a bid in for a 20" online but didn't get it. I'll have to save my pennies and stop buying kilts.

I get to attend a free course for Switchers that Apple have in Oslo in October .I'll also just play around with it a lot.

If you are thinking of an e-bay auction watch out many are dumping their Core duo's for Core2duo's In an attempt to upgrade

    ...snip
There are many books out there (I can send titles once I get home) but the first one I started with is MAC OS X for Dummies. I"ve been in IT over 20 years but every time I pick one of those up I learn something new. Good place to start. If I remember correctly not only does it cover the MAC basics but also has tips comparing Windows to MAC. ie. If you did this in windows this is how to do it on the MAC.

    Good luck.

    Also, keep these handy:

    Mac OS X Hints
    AFP548
    Macintouch

    You'll find them useful.
