For the most part it's no worse than a "Carry On" bit of fun and nothing different to what you would have seen on the famous saucy seaside postcards of Donald McGill.

And it is serious about kilt wearing but doesn't see anything wrong with a little humour to boot.

I recommend the film The Hasty Heart (1949) starring Richard Todd and Ronald Regan. It shows that there is a long tradition of a little kilted humour even amongst the circumstances of a tragic fatal illness.
