    This is new to me...

When I strap on a kilt it fits like a glove...I can jump up and down...stand on my head (no belt needed)...the kilt won't go anywhere. To me it seems impossible to "get rid of it" without unbuckling the straps....I think my measurements are sort of normal...34/35 waist, 40 seat.

    I'm baffled....

Well that's at least one more!

Mine stays in place too once in position - as I said I simply have to pull my stomach in so it falls down to my waist then it prises over the hips and posterior fine

Perhaps it doesn't work for everyone but maybe those who haven't tried the technique should have a go

Intrigued by this post, I just had to try it out...

Nope, there is no way my traditional kilts can be pulled down - they fit like a glove; and stay there.

Even though an unbuckled removal (or any movement, for that matter) failed, it felt soooo wrong even attempting to do so.

I have the same problem as Ron, can't see the straps so good. I pull my 'regular' kilt up and tuck in my shirts. My UKs, as they sit on the hips, I pull over my head, thus not needing to tuck in the trail of the shirt.

Just a reminder to getting that shirt tucked in just right. I do what my wife taught me, reach from under the kilt and pull it down around you. I think that works better than trying to tuck and adjust. Just make sure your pleats are hanging and not bunched up when done. I always check by hand and mirror, and then do a twist back and forth a few times which adjusts and layers the pleats.

    DALE.

You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!

I enjoy the pagentry of "buckling up" the kilt. It is part of the mood enhancement of wearing it in the first place.

There's more folks able to do this than I thought there would be.

I keep my kilts purposely strapped on snuggly so that they can't slide up or down. Perhaps if the kiltmakers had added an elastic waistbands or a zipper feature it might work. But do I really want that... nahhh.
