Fashion challenged question?
Could one wear these two coloured items at the same time?
Bottle Green Potaine
Royal Stewart Kilt
Thanks
Kevin
Cheers

Good question. I do know that sometimes I wear bottle green hose with the kilt that I posted a pic of in the Christmas Kilt thread. And, sometimes, I do have a green T-shirt on. I'll let Hamish chime in on it, but I don't really see much wrong with it.

There is an axiom upon which there appear to be different variants:
"Red and green should never be seen except upon an Irish queen"
"Red and green should never be seen, without a colour in between"
"Red and green should never be seen, except on an Irish Colleen"
Then there is also a version about red and green navigation lights on ships to avoid collisions...!
Personally I think that red and green do look nice together!
And a lot of tartans have red and green in them anyway!

Personally I think the kilt shown with the bottle green potaine looks much better with it than would the Royal Stewart. But there is a hint of bottle green in the area where the yellow and white stripes cross in the predominantly red Royal Stewart so I suppose it might go OK.

I think it could work with kilt hose added that matched the jacket. In fact, I'm not sure that, other than oatmeal color perhaps, anything but dark green hose would work in that case.
With two dominant blocks of color like that, it's tricky.

To my eyes the jacket pulls out the green in the Royal Stewart, so I think it goes great. If not, maybe it's just my monitor?

IMHO, the Royal Stewart would look better with a black jacket, but that is only my personal opinion.
I have seen a few bottle green Argyll jackets worn with tartans that are predominantly green like the picture on the top.
