The reports we read of near overnight service from Stillwater in the US does not apply here in the Great White North. Our customs and postal services are giant machines that work at their own pace unfazed by the aspirations of Joe public. If there was a Stillwater Kilts Canada Ltd., there might be an improvement.
On my first cross-Canada train trip I mailed a post card from Winnipeg to a friend in Ventura. It took a full 5 months to get there.

That's because it froze in Winterpeg and they likely couldn't open the mail box . I took a full year to defrost after moving from Winnipeg (born and raised) to Vancouver.
