Started with small press, did some Comico and DC stuff towards the end with Bill Messner Loebs.
Then I moved to Alaska to go to Seminary.

Really! What sort of stuff did you do? (If I'm getting OT, you can PM me about this... I am a former collector).

Oh, I dabbled doing pencils for different projects.
Target Comics: Gantar, the last nabu
Comico: Silverback (from Matt Wagner's Grendel)
DC: Wasteland
other guest stuff from time to time.
I loved the work, and got great comments from my editors, but it was in the days before Fed Ex. and I didn't live in New York, so getting work regulary was tough.
I'd love to do it again. It's very time consuming, but very satisfying.

Prester John i would hang with Diana Schutz at San Diego when I attended. I have some of your work boxed up somewhere, and have been trying to get copies of silverback for ages now. I am a huge grendel fan.
You did good work.

Diana was especially kind about my pencils.
I enjoyed Silverback, and put alot of my own things in the backgrounds. I did'nt ink it, however, and alot of the detail from my work disappeared in the inking.
But I also quadrupled my per page pay, so a worthy trade off at that point.
I'm often asked if I'd be willing to do work like that again, and I certainly would!
As I mentioned before, it's time consuming but alot of fun. In fact, my youngest made me create a "kilted" hero a while ago for him. I did a small team of Alaskan heroes when I was there, etc.
Today it might even work better via the net! Who knows!

Most artists do not send in their pencils anymore everything is sent electronically, saves the companys a mint on shipping fee's and makes it easie to use artits from Europe or Asia.
The market has changed a lot since you last worked. A lot of self publishing and many people are putting their work up online first and then collecting it and selling the collected work.
It wouldn't take much for you to start doing your own work and doing it online.

Hmmmmmm...
interesting.
Do you know of any example sites to look at?
Maybe the Xmarks crowd would support a kilted hero, eh?
