Hey, tonic is a vital component of Gin & Tonic... Which, according to Douglas Adams is a name that every alien species uses for a drink.... the drink is different, and the spelling may change, but they've got one...

I'm 38 years old. But I am a stay at home dad with a 6 1/2 year old son and a 3 3/4 year old daughter, so it might be a case of it not being the age , but the mileage :rolleyes: .

Hi all,

Yes a supermarket is a nice place to go kilted. Most of the time people look apparently impassible but I get some feedback.

A man asked me how much I paid for my kilt and he replied that I paid too much for it ($550) in the Quebec tartan. He told me that he was the president of the province of Quebec McLeod clan and, as kiltmaker he offered me to make me a 13oz 8 yds kilt in any tartan for $575CDN.

The checkout line is indeed a good place to get comments on our kilt. Most of the time is from the wrapers who are teenagers. They are vrey open minded and one of them told me that he would like to be a Scot to wear it.

In fact the only adverse reaction was (you can guess) .... from my ex "friend". I meet her last saturday. She put her hand over her eyes and became almost hysterical. She said that's nonsense and bla bla bla .....

That was the exception confirming the rule and the case is now closed once for all.

More I wear my kilt, more I feel better.

I'm going 2 months in Argentina (Dec and Jan) in my brother and sister in law families. That will be a different ball game there and I've been warned not to go alone kilted in downtown Mendoza if I want to reach 100 yrs old. :rolleyes:

One other incident of amusement occured yesterday...

While signing out my young daughter from her preschool class a lady came up behind me to sign out her daughter as well. She regarded by attire and asked
if I played the bagpipes. I told her no, but that I did take Scottish country Dance classes with my wife. She then said "we have a next door neighbor who plays the bagpipes". I thought about this and replied "Well...that can be a good thing or a bad thing..."

She cracked up.
