Ron, thanks for sharing those songs. My late friend had already been very specific about the hymns and Bible texts to be used (Crown Him with mnay Crowns; The churches One foundation; and A Mighty Fortress).
He also wanted an informal and no-fuss service, which counts out the idea of a piper even though I am sure I could have got one.

Update
Thanks for all your kind thoughts and prayers, the funeral went well last week, it was a big turnout and I didn't get the jitters speaking.
The only hiccup was the organist mucking up the final hymn.
There were no negative comments about being kilted.
