I am very happy that you like my web site and the Anderson of Kinneddar tartan. Nice to know that you are enthusiastic about your Anderson roots in Kinneddar. If you are seriously contemplating the idea of a kilt in this tartan, then it would be my elder brother, Donald Anderson of Kinneddar (who is the current Laird) who would give permission. I designed this sett back in 1974 and registered it as a private family tartan and as far as I am able to ascertain, my family are the only wearers with the exception of one invitee.
It may be of interest to you that in 1993, I founded the "Anderson Association" here in the UK and I now serve as Chairman and Editor. The last annual journal ("The Andrean") carried the first half of an in-depth article on Anderson tartans and I am about to publish part 2 in the current issue. It includes a very new design that I have concieved, preserving the familiar motif of the broad white and two narrow (tramlines) stripes on black - but with a red ground. It has been designated "Anderson of Ardbrake" and would be freely available for anyone to wear. I serve as Pipe Major for the "Clan Lachlan Pipe Band" who, under their old name of "Pontefract & Dist. PB," were 'all England' grade 2 champions in 2004 (England does not have any grade 1 bands). I am a card carrying member of the Anderson Clan and while I'll have to check again to be 100% sure I do believe my ancestory has been traced to Kinneddar. (By other family members not myself.)

I've often seen it labeled as just another Anderson clan tartan. Hence I never thought it would take permission to wear. Just to be on the safe side with whom should I inquire for permission?

I've long desired to have a kilt made from this tartan. Now That I've seen your site I really like the way that kilt looks. Very smart!
