MacIntosh of Clan Chattan
"Touch Not the Cat Bot a Glove!" Loch Moy!
I feel at home with the Gordon's for some reason. That's me bro's middle name, and a fellow clansman of Clan Chattan. My grandfather's side of my heritage is from Kemney, Aberdeenshire area, while my grandmother's from Dunoon. I've travelled to visit my greatgrandfather's grave site at Culsalmond, north west of Ellon on the way to Inverness where I met my clan chieftain before his passing.
I have a traditional ($700Cdn) MacIntosh hunting kilt, along with a tan and a Stewart black SportKilt. I'm looking to buy a couple more kilts for this year and am trying to get feedback from threads/bbs such as this one. SportKilts are fine, but I'm not keen on the elastic back on them. For a traditional fit and feel, what do you "MUGgers" think of USAKilts, NeoKilts, Stillwater and Renegade?
I live in Niagara Falls, Ontario and would be interested in hearing of "kilt nights" in and around Southern Ontario, especially in the Niagara area. My daughter's in her last undergrad year at McMaster U.
Recently, I wore my tan Sportkilt to a restaurant following a night of volleyball, and could have had a date with a nice, younger waitress who was interested in what I had under my kilt. ;) I wear my kilts on hikes, grocery shopping, and generally, around town. I've never had any negative reactions to my wearing of the kilt, and for an upcoming dedication of hwy 405, soon to be Brock's Expressway, I was asked to wear my highland attire.
