I've generally been using the UK for long distance. For the two hour drive to Heidelberg I wrapped a towel around my hips to hold the pleats in place with one hand at waist level and the other slightly below the bottom of the sporran. Pull the towl tight and sit in the car. Once in position I just push the towel to the side and fasten the seat belt. I think someone mentioned something similar before but it works.

Never could figure out why long haul truckers haven't adopted kilts en masse.

Living out in the frontier I do a lot of long distance driving. Have worn all types of my kilts with no problem with wrinkled pleats.

Wore my UK Basil Survival on a three day jaunt this spring...it was a tad rumpled but no obvious creases...just looked like any other cotton garment that had been worn for three days.

For around town driving I just flop into the seat (Ford Escape) then raise my hips and use my left hand to toss any overhang under me before I close the door.

For long distance trips I may adjust the kilt, more for my comfort than for pleats.

Just don't worry about it anymore.

Just returned from a weekend up in Flagstaff, 2 1/2 hour drive each way. Only took one kilt, my brown leather UK. A dream to drive in. Don't have leather seats, but do have leather kilts.

Long haul truckers do more than just drive. The job involves quite a bit of unloading, climbing and maintainance work on the truck. Having been a trucker I can tell you I wouldn't want to wear anything I didn't want to keep clean and tear free.

    Aye Bubba,

Should have been more specific, had the UK Workman's in mind...and those long hours in the cab. Spent a lot of time around trucks and truckers in my youth and should know better.

Do think a UK booth at a trucker's convention would do very well.
