Box pleated MacFarlane, modified sport coat

Like the kilt. The jacket is ok (can't beat the price though). I think that JimB is onto something. If you have the talent to create a pleated kilt you more than likely have the chops to modify the coat. I imagine that you could look at what your seamstress/tailor did and duplicate the effort to shorten the length by an inch (give or take) and round out the sporran cutaway. Failing that, I recommend wearing the jacket open. The cutaway will look a bit better (and frankly most kilt jackets are not worn buttoned up anyway from what I've seen).

Looks like you did a great job. To be honest I'm not sure the jacket is too long. Take a look at Argyle's. A few chaps have made the adjustments and then realized that they made the coat too short. My black Argyle is only about 3 inches less than my usual sports jackets. What does make the difference is that the Argyle is shaped better.

I agree with your take on the jacket... however, Argyle jackets are often left undone. I think the jacket would be much closer to a pass that way.

As for the kilt... Great!
