How would I go about doing this?

Good evening. This just is not the first post I wanted to read when I got home tonight after a long day of VERY stressful work. I'm really sick and tired of the idiots ( Yes, I said idiots) in the education field these days.

Kizmet, as far as I'm concerned the administrators in education these days are completely off base. No clue whatsoever. This is from me who for the last 7 years has been married to the Headmaster of a private school. Every day in his 25 plus years in public education he had to deal with this idiocy. (That's why its now PRIVATE school.)

My advice is for the boys to don their kilts and go to school. You should go with them. This ignorant VP most likely won't dare to interfere with a parent there. If he does, well....the online Scottish community has rallied before and unless I remember incorrectly there were reprimands and resignations that resulted.

Nostalgic dress indeed. If a kilt is not nostalgic then I don't know what else could possibly be.

We as a group (official disclaimer: I cannot speak for XMarksTheScott or it's owners or moderators BUT I think I CAN speak for the general membership) are behind you and the boys. I say go for it and take this fool to the cleaners!

My, my. Isn't this interesting? If it were me, I'd just show up kilted. If the VP tried to throw me out, I'd create a scene. I'd not leave. I'd quote the US Constitution. I'd get the media. I'd get a lawyer. Heck, I'd get my congressman.

And I'd want a public, formal apology. In the newspaper. And on TV. From the VP, the principal, and the school board.

I don my kilt and proudly stand beside that comment.

Better yet, post an email adress for the school or the school board. We'll shut down their email server with emails from all over the world.

I wear my kilt frequently to my school (DeVry University) and the only compliments I have gotten were positive, or made by acquaintances in humour. No one has ever told me not to wear my kilt, public or otherwise. I am even allowed to wear it at work, because a)my supervisors recognize it for what it is, and what it means, and b)there are no provisions in the dress-code (work wise) against it.

The kilt IS mens' clothing, doesn't matter where, the kilt IS heritage, and can therefore be nostalgic (by this jackass' definition of nostalgic being historical), the kilt DOES look clean, and very presentable when worn well, the Scots DID have a major impact on the formation of the USA. As others have said, that 'tard needs a lesson in not only history, but cultural tolerance and diversity.

You've got me behind you if needed.

Wear the kilts, boys. There's nothing wrong with it, and undoubtedly nothing in the dress code against it. Be proud, walk tall, and be polite should anything be said by anyone.

This has happened to me once. Once.

I implore you to post his e-mail and/or phone number. He'll be so swamped, he'll show a bit more respect next time....
