    More honeymoon pics:

Ready to go out to dinner, where some young female Russian tourist kept trying to sneak shots of me in my kilt, much to the annoyance of the other restaurant patrons (the camera flash was on)...

Wendi out shopping the next day...

    Monastery ruins...

    Inside, looking up...

Wendi outside the Riverside Farmhouse in Cootehill (Co. Cavan), where we spent three days...

Bridge crossing the Annalee River (the owners of the farmhouse, Joe and Una Smith, don't even know how old it is)...

Looking down into one wing of the "fever hospital" (in Cootehill), where my great-great grandfather's family members died due to illness brought on by the Great Famine (the burial mound is about 100 meters behind the hospital)...

Inside the hospital, looking up towards the window where the first photo was taken...

A better view of the original stone work (the rest of the building was built on many years later, after the famine had passed)...

Looking straight through, from one the side of the hospital to the other...

A brief note on these shots: The fever hospital was purchased some years ago by a developer who promptly began renovations and improving the surrounding land. The residents of Cootehill voiced their discontent to the local government (because of the historical signifcance of everything) and further construction came to a halt. Thankfully, the owner ceased developing (the property remains abandoned).

    More pics:

The memorial that marks the massive burial mound (behind the fever hospital), where famine victims were laid to rest (my great-great-grandfather's family is buried here)...

Though you can't quite fathom its size here, the mound rises about a meter above the surrounding soil and stretches over 200 ft. in length (it's about 60 ft. at its widest point)...

Lough Sillan (in Shercock, Co. Cavan), known for its abundant pike fishing...

    Another boring roadside view...
