My family traces its roots back to not only County Cavan, but the town Cootehill, as well!

In a nutshell, the story goes that around 1816 or so, one of my ancestors was visiting a sick family member (his sister, I think) in the hospital with some food and blankets, and was told he could not leave the items for her seeing as they hadn't been blessed by the church. Well, she died in the hospital, setting the wheels in motion for my ancestors to leave the Catholic Church and hightail it over to Canada.
That might have been the same hospital in your pictures.
I'm going to forward this link to my uncle who knows more of the family history than I do.
