We have a Russian Blue / Gray Tabby mix. (His Royal Kittyness Prince Beauregard von Worf de Hairballhocker (Beau) Must have been a little loaded when I named him. )
I was never a cat person but my neighbor at the time started feeding a young stray in the breezeway between our condo's. Well, since she was feeding him a can of albacore tuna everyday he had no incentive to go back to where he came from. This went on for several weeks and finally we got to the first frost of the year.
I knocked on her door and told her about the weather and suggested she take him in. She said she didn't have the room. One person in a two bedroom condo and you don't have room for a 10 pound cat??
Anyway I brooded on this for a couple of hours and went back out front where the cat was curled up on a cold cement sidewalk. I kinda scowled at him and said oh well. Went to the grocery and got some food and a litter box and brought him in for the night. That was 11 years ago this week.

Miss Toni
Allow me to introduce Toni. She was a barn cat in Germany when she adopted my wife and I about 6 years ago. She is an international traveler, having made the trip to the USA and back to Germany.
Wonderful companion, sweet personality. Loves lying on my kilted lap as I sit at the computer.

I like dogs too, but they don't purr!

Several felines (16), all of whom were rescued from neglect or abusive homes. Three dogs. A large Husky/shepard/wolf mix. A medium Blue heeler/aussie mix. A small beagle/terrier mix. The large one was dumped on my front porch in the wee hours of the morning at the young age of about 6-7 weeks, I had to get down on my belly and drag him out from under the porch. The medium was taken from a cardboard box in a parking lot where he was being given away, with all his brothers and sisters, he was the runt. The small on is one of two runts from a litter of 15, she was rescued by a neighbor of ours at about 4 weeks of age. This neighbor was unable to care for her as she needed at that age, so we took her into our home.
In addition we have three African Geese, a flock of 17 chickens, one rooster and 16 hens. One miniature mule, and a 27 year-old horse. Six goldfish. And my wife has 20 guinea pigs. Plus a pack of coyotes in the valley behind us, and several rabbits in various near-by fields. There is also evidence of black bear in the woods near by. All the cats and the dogs have been fixed.
