    Heavier PV

Since USA seems to be one of Marton Mills best customers and (hopefully) has their ear, consider this that I posted in another thread:

...if the demand for the actual PV material from Marton Mills is sufficient, why don't they (Marton Mills) work up a heavier weight PV? I don't know the technical restrictions involved in making this fabric heavier, but it IS great stuff and I would think that it would be well worth their while to consider it.

Rocky, would you consider bringing this up to your contacts at MM?

    I'll second that request.

I'm sure Rocky has brought it up with MM. I remember a post of his offering some type of reward to anyone who found him a source for 16 oz PV.

I would LOVE to have a 16 (heck... even 13) oz. PV material. Turpin is right... I STILL have a standing contest... first person to supply me with the name and contact info for a MILL that WEAVES 16 OZ tartan PV material gets a free Casual kilt in 16 oz tartan. There are a few companies that CLAIM to have 16 oz PV kilts, but they are NOT PV like they're advertised.

The weight of a fabric comes down to how much 1 yard of the fabric (double width) weighs. The way to AFFECT the weight is to use bigger or smaller strands of material in the weaving process.

I'm not sure if the strands of PV only come in 1 weight, but I believe that to be the case. I have brought it up to MM, but they seem pretty content to do what they're doing and not invest time / money in a different weight PV. I'll bring it up again and see if I can get them to hook us up a bit.
