Why they would choose to use plastic right at the place of maximum stress and
wear is beyond me. 
I use them for all my kilts (13-16oz 8 yards) and never had a problem.
At first I used the 40cm hangers, but they "meet" the buckles, so I now use
35cm instead.
To show my trust in them...I guarantee them for 1 year, when they fail I'll send a replacement or refund.
Just fold the kilt like you wear it...don't double fold.
