Those are some nice, fresh wet hops! What variety are they?
I think the nuts are a great idea. You might try toasting them - just put them on a baking sheet in the oven until they begin to turn golden. It'll help release a lot of great flavour!
I can't wait to start brewing again. I'm living on a friend's sofa right now while I work to save money to get an apartment. Boston is expensive....

P1M, it's just not fair, you get to have so much fun, touring distilleries, sampling scotch and making home brew!

I feel inspired to brew. I think we'll have to get the necessities for brewing when we get back to the states. Glad to see the hops being put to good use. Enjoy it.

Very nice, Robertson. I'm a brewer, too.
Made a batch with hot peppers, one time. Tasty!

It's great to brew your own, especially with good company. I too envy your fresh hops. I make mine at the brew-on-premise now. That Deuchars IPA brings back memories of Edinburgh . . .

Oh that's just not fair, taunting me with fresh hops! ;)
I can't wait until I can finally quit this city life, start my alpaca farm, and have a hop patch in the back.

It's funny, I looked through this and had to laugh a little. At age 16 I've already done half of what P1M has detailed but instead of making beer, I made moonshine or Mountain dew for anyone that knows it by that moniker.(Yes Pepsi does produce a product that is named after a euphemism for moonshine.)
Now, don't get worried, it was for a science fair project. I actually did a nifty little experiment to find out which grain produced the greatest total amount of pure ethanol alcohol. It made for a worth-while thing to do with all the current talk of gasohol and it's "benefits". Still, how many people can say the have made moonshine before they were legally old enough to drink, or make it for their science fair project?
Still, it's good to know the processing for what i actually past the fermented mash if you don't plan on distilling.
