A few weeks ago I attended a Diwali festival (an important Hindu celebration)with my wife (who is of Indian extraction) and kids, along with several of my wife's relatives.
The whole gang came back to our place for a barbecue and a general get-together, and I immediately decided to change out of my jeans and into my kilt.
I walked through the dining room, on my way outside to join the guys for a beer, and one of my wife's cousins stopped talking in mid sentence, watched me walk outside, with her jaw almost on the floor.
After I got outside I heard the womenfolk erupt into laughter.
Come to find out, the laughter was not due to the fact that I was kilted - it was because the cousin who was stunned into silence has a reputation for never shutting up! Nobody has ever seen this lady so quiet in all her life, so I have been encouraged to wear my kilt to all future family gatherings.
The power of the kilt knows no bounds...
Regards,
Troy
