    striped ties...

    I disagree with the sentiment expressed here about the tie; I've seen a number of kilties pull off a patterned and/or striped tie with kilts, especially when there is a waistcoat to separate them. I know some may disagree with me here, but it has been done.

    For example, here is a picture of HRH the Duke of Rothesay (Prince Charles) wearing a kilt with a regimental striped tie:



    The regiment in question is the Gordon Highlanders.

    I've also seen pictures of a number of ex-servicemen from Scottish regiments wearing their regimental ties with their kilts. I wouldn't dream of telling them they were "wrong" in wearing their regimental ties with their kilts.
