Regimental?

GOOD DAY, Like said in a earlier post going with or without depends on if there will be any small kids about and how much wind. Outside on a breezy day at the park or a local fest, boxers, inside at a local watering hole with a good pint, well you guys know what true freedom is for a man. One more thing I saw a printed poll done in Scotland on what is the proper under garment ( if any ) for the kilt, some responded that they liked to have a speedo on under thier kilt. Kind of defends the whole "freedom for men".

Well it may be a boring and repetitive topic for some of you because you've been on here and kilted for quite some time. I've worn a kilt a total of about 15 times....so I apologize if I am somewhat naive and inquisitive....

I have had to figure it out on my own here cause I haven't wanted to sound stupid asking stuff about hose and flashes and pins and the lot....it's a daunting undertaking to start being kilted. I understand that being kilted brings with it a great deal of history and heritage and I don't want to do anything to be disrespectful to it....so hence the questions....

Please don't feel that your questions may sound "stupid". The only stupid question is the one not asked. However...if you take the time to search the archives beforehand you may find what you're looking for. If you can't find it, or are still confused about the situation, ask away! We were all new to this at one time or another.

We all were new to this at one point or another. I don't think any disrespect was meant to you as a new kilt wearer, just recognizing that this topic comes up very frequently. As Al said, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

So, the unasked questions....can you be arrested for not wearing underwear with your kilt? - No. Can someone who checks to see if you're wearing underwear under your kilt be arrested? - Yes. Can you be arrested if the wind blows your kilt so that people can see you've no underwear on? - Maybe, but it'd never hold in court. Can you be arrested for showing unwilling people that you're not wearing underwear under your kilt? - For sure. Can you be arrested if a child peers up your kilt and exclaims to his parents that he sees your bits? - The best reason to wear underwear around a lot of kids who might cling to your ankles. And...what would our dear mother's say if we were in an accident and rushed to the hospital and the medical staff found out we weren't wearing underwear? And on and on and on....

Trust your gut, but don't pass up the chances for freedom. Some women do it. Once dated a college professor, we were both in our fifties then. She NEVER wore underwear ever...'twas vanity...she didn't want a panty line....

Absolutely no disrespect was meant in my comments. I meant them to be funny, but I was tired when I wrote them and I realise they could be taken in a different way. If you can't find your answers about something to do with a kilt by all means ask. The chances are you are not the only one who doesn't know.

What I find funny about all the "Regimental" threads is I have been wearing a kilt for 40 years and have never given much thought to what I wear or not, it just depends on the situation and I never realised it was such a large topic of discussion. While I am comfortable without, I never gave any thought to a kilt being a better choice for a man until I came across the whole MUG argument. To me it was just another piece of clothing.
