Remember Ham's wise words that its best to put a kilt pin in and leave it rather than moving it from kilt to kilt.
Hence a kilt pin for every kilt.
Traditional clan kilt pins are fine for matching clan tartans.

The more you have, the fewer holes you'll be poking in your kilts.
