In my part of the world it is something I'll have to clear from my driveway as soon as I get home from work today

We've had a couple of nights with frost here in Maryland. No snow yet in my area, but there was some in the more mountainous western part of the state.

What's all this talk of 16 oz. kilts? My 13 oz kilt is great, warm and toasty when the snow's flying up to my (where my knickers would be ), but today with temperatures around 5C, I was out with a 10oz poly/viscose and I was fine. I'm not on winter maneuvers in the Arctic. For the short time we have weather under -10C, it's not worth buying a 16 oz. kilt.

But isn't it worth buying a 16oz kilt just 'cause?

It was chilly Saturday night, when I wore a rather light (7-8 oz.) great kilt in the Camel Thompson tartan to a Hallowe'en party. Wasn't too bad until I was outside for a break, and experienced the effects of a cold breeze blowing "up the gulch," so to speak. Temps were between 25 and 30 deg. F at the time.
Right now, it's tough to wear kilts in this part of the world. Temps the past 3 nights have been between 0 and 5 above F., and all the way up to 20 or 25 during the day. I generally don't kilt up in this kind of weather unless the pipe band's got a gig to play, somewhere.

As long as the exposure time isn't too long, 13oz kilts will perform just fine. Once the temperatures drop below freezing though, I tend to consider knickers the better option.
