[QUOTE=nixphotography]Hello all from Laurens SC. I am a father of two girls, two step daughters, and a new baby due in March. I was doing some searches on the net for kilts and directions to make kilts, found this site. I thought why not, could provide some useful information, and some good conversation. I hope to get enough courage up to actualy try to make a kilt because coming up with the xtra funds to buy one outright is difficult with all the children. I am employeed by the State of South Carolina / Spartanburg School Bus Shop. I am the Shop Foreman for that shop. In my off time I enjoy photography, and civil war reenacting.

Brett, welcome to the kilted experience. I started out 10 years ago or so with a Utilikilt. Since then I have purchased quite a few from Sportkilt and 2 from USA kilt. I would recommend that you take a look at the Sportkilt. They start out at around $69 for a basic kilt. It's not the dress kilt with 8 yards of tartan but it's a good starter kilt. You can add features as your $$ allow. I love wearing them and I wear them year round. Very rarely do I wear a pair of pants. What size are you? As you go bigger in size, the price increases by a $10 bill. Let me know how you make out.
