    A short border raid.

We took off on Mon for a couple of days on a border raid over to Tewkesbury and Worcester. Two places we had never been to, albeit they are only one and a half hours drive away. Both places have an amazing Cathedral and Abbey.
Here's a few pics over a couple of posts ..

Just about to leave on the raid

Where we stayed .. The Bell Inn Hotel in Tewkesbury .. a lovely place with great real ales .. guest beer when we were there 'Old Bob' .. twas delicious

A view from a short walk from the pub .. you can just see the pub below the Abbey tower.

Another little pub, Ye Olde Black Bear, just down the road from the Bell .. another fab place

    Tewkesbury Abbey

And on our return home this is how the little church at the back of our cottage looked in the late afternoon sunshine.

Lovely photos, Derek. That is not a part of our country that I have ever visited either, but then I have travelled very little in the UK! Honestly, I just do not know how you two manage to fit so much into your lives - I am very envious!

Excellent pics, Derek, thanks for posting.
Tewkesbury is a charming place and well worth a visit as part of a UK tour.
I've passed through Worcester on the train and flown over it (the cathedral and the triangular railway junction make good landmarks from the air) but I've never stopped there for a look around.

Great pictures of your foray across Offa's Dyke Derek.

I have been to Worcester and also to Tewkesbury but not to the Abbey there.

That correction is on my to do list as no doubt it is on Hamish's too

Every time you post one of your travelogues, my wife and I start thinking about how, if we ever get over to the UK, we can extend the trip by another week...right now we're convinced that we'd have to spend at least three months over there in order to see everything that we'd like and meet everyone that posts on Xmarks.

...but if you ever decide to do a US tour (how about "Kilts Over America" as a working title?), I can definitely get you at least one booking here in Chciago...

Great pics Derek. The abbey is very impressive. And I like the pic of the church behind your place. We did not get a good one while it was light.
