MacFeegles encounter "the Question"

...so I'm halfway through "Wintersmith" by Terry Pratchett and the Nac MacFeegle have been asked "the Question"...nice to see that TP is aware of it and handles it with his usual bent sense of humor.

So it's out is it? Guess I'll have to drop into Waterstones on the way home and buy it.

Part of me really wants to be a feegle, but I can't do the pseudo lallans (perhaps I need lessons from P1M?)

It's something to work your way into gradually. Start out by saying "Crivens!" a lot, and then start exclaiming "Waily, waily waily" anytime something doesn't go the way you thought it should. Paint yourself blue and wear a great kilt.

It's worked for me - I've been doing it for a week or so, and I've already got the Feegles' ability to disappear. At least, a lot of people don't seem to see me now, sometimes even when I'm talking to them.

Ah, but it's the accent. When reading Pratchett, the voice I hear in my head is more-or-less Billy Conolly, either from one of his commedy tapes, or as John Brown in the film 'Mrs Brown'. My wife can imitate the accent to a tee (and she's from Kent), I can't.

The kilt is due any day now (Gunn 16 oz Strome), so I've got that bit covered. The ability to disappear sounds useful.
