Welcome from North Georgia.
Here is one suggestion you haven't received. Buy a less expensive kilt, like a SWK heavy or a USAK casual in the size you are aiming for. Having this baby waitng for your arrival will be more than enough incentive to stick with whatever program you are on. I find that having these expensive garments is plenty of motivation to stay at my current (acceptable) weight and waist.

Salud!
Gaisgeil:
I remember when I first started wearing a kilt. I had a chip on my shoulder. I was waiting for someone to give me some guff. I've had a couple of idiots, over the last few years, make snide and snarky comments. I've had many, MANY more people make positive comments.
Wear it strong and wear it proud. One of my few true genuine authentic heroes is Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton, and the most common translation I've seen of his family motto is appropriate: A Strong Man is at home in any country.
I've found that the people who try to belittle me for wearing a kilt are people with weak souls. They have no confidence in themselves, so they turn on anyone or anything that is different. I've also found that strong men, and strong women, from whatever culture or of whatever ethnicity, respond positively to the kilt.
