I remember when I first started wearing a kilt. I had a chip on my shoulder. I was waiting for someone to give me some guff. I've had a couple of idiots, over the last few years, make snide and snarky comments. I've had many, MANY more people make positive comments.

Wear it strong and wear it proud. One of my few true genuine authentic heroes is Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton, and the most common translation I've seen of his family motto is appropriate: A Strong Man is at home in any country.

I've found that the people who try to belittle me for wearing a kilt are people with weak souls. They have no confidence in themselves, so they turn on anyone or anything that is different. I've also found that strong men, and strong women, from whatever culture or of whatever ethnicity, respond positively to the kilt.

Since putting on the kilt I've enjoyed a greater sense of pride and self confidence. My toughest critics are my family. They were not critics at all! Next my friends. They really are my friends, still! Then, the general public. Well, I am the general public. Everyone loves me!!
I've never lost weight. I know right where it goes and mostly right where it shouldn't have gone to. I'm constantly thinking of ways to coax it to the areas that would serve me best. But, alas, my physical powers sometimes outweigh my mental gymnastics!
