    Veteran's Day Parades Kilted...?

I know Veteran's Day parades follow many different formats around the country. Our annual parade in our little town has no problem with me marching kilted, and I shall again this year.

Anyone else plan on marching in their local Veteran's Day parade kilted?

    How about watching kilted?

Or other Veteran's Day ceremonies kilted?

Up here in Canada we have Remembrance Day instead of Vetran's Day, to my knowledge same kind of idea. I don't really know about any parades around here, but at my daughters school they'll be having a Remembrance Day Assembly in the morning. My daughters in kindergarten and her class will be singing a couple of songs for the assembly. Parents are invited to the school for the morning and my daughter asked if I'll wear my kilt that day for school. I can't let her down , I'll most likely wear my Nightstalker kilt, dress shirt and Oatmeal kilt hose (I don't really have any dress clothes, but I clean up nice). I'll also take my videocamera.

Same thing; in the states, Veteran's Day used to be known as "Armistice Day" for the ending of the First World War on 11/11/1918. Remembrance Day in Commonwealth Nations also marks the end of the First World War.

I will be marching in a parade, but not kilted; I will be part of our Sons of Union Veterans "Parade of the American Soldier" unit, which portrays the common soldier in every American conflict from the Revolution to present day. I will be representing Vietnam this year.

    Regards,

    Todd

There are remembrance day parades here and there will be a few kilts on show among the marchers next Sunday as well as the pipers. My next door neighbour will be wearing his Sutherland kilt to pipe at the local parade. I won't be involved this year as I no longer play the pipes and I was never in the full-time armed forces.

I'll be at the Maryland Wing Conference for the Civil Air Patrol that day so I'll have to be wearing CAP clothes. That means no kilt, so maybe next year.

    Smile Legion Uniform

Up here in the Great White North, I'll be in Legion attire which only supports the Air Force tartan, and I'm navy/army. I'll be wearing my grey flannels.
I do wear my regimental green beret, though, instead of the Legion navy beret.

Our band is playing for a local Veteran's Day parade, so we will be kilted! And _cold_! Nothing like Upstate NY in November. We've taken to unzipping the pipe bags and tossing in a couple of those instant handwarmer packets to keep the air in the bag warm while we play.

Our monthly kilt night falls on Veterans Day this year. Some of our members are vets, including an 84-year-old Scottish immigrant who fought in WWII.

We've decided to dress up a bit - Argyll jackets, etc., and I'm sure we'll be toasting the men who served.
