Depends on how you get in the car! The pleats are always between my bare skin (oops is that a confession? ) and the car seat.

My kilt wearing is not based on the weather, but on what I want to wear. A kilt is a part my wardrobe, nothing special.

Of course KCW, you live in Florida so the whole "Winter" concept doesn't really apply to you does it?

I've never had any problems. It is great fun to shovel the snow while Kilted. Perhaps that is just the oddball in me.

Pretty similar story here in the Valley of the Sun (over 300 days of sunshine a year!). Our Winters aren't cold (daytime highs usually in the upper 60s to low 80s) so wearing a kilt year-round is no problemo. The only way to have a "White Christmas" in Phoenix is if no people-of-color come to your holiday party!

Well that's true now, but I began kilt wearing last year while we were in Chicago and did not even take a day off in the worst of the weather. I took C152T's comments to indicate wanting/enjoying a specific reason to wear a kilt (and C152T I don't care why anyone wears a kilt) maybe because there are fewer questions from the uninformed. Certainly there seem to be more "official" occasions to wear the kilt in the warmer months, but comfort is always a good reason to wear a kilt. And to keep the record straight, I am as likely to throw on a loose pair of shorts as a kilt if I am just knocking about the house. Loose athletic shorts have all the comfort advanages of kilts and lack the disadvantage of having to sweep the pleats when sitting down.

Correct. I could, and sometimes do, wear a cheap acrylic or polycotton kilt around the house or for going to the supermarket for the week's groceries, but I was referring to the fact that there are fewer occasions to dress up in a proper wool kilt during the winter months. There are as others have said, a few such events such as Christmas Dinner and Burns Supper, and Ann and I are planning to spend a week in Edinburgh in February where I would expect to be kilted all week.

I hope to be there for a couple of days in February too.
Just be prepared for all the tourists who will ask you for a photo!

You must look more approachable than me. I have worn a kilt out and about in Edinburgh many times and only once been asked to pose for a photo by a tourist. We are planning to be based in Edinburgh from 2nd to 9th February as we have exchanged our next timeshare week in Madeira for one at an Edinburgh condominium. Maybe see you there McClef, and perhaps a few other forumites too.

Christmas, New year, works dances, burns suppers all occassions to get dressed up. Anyway who needs a reason to wear the kilt.
