I know the two people behind you are pointing at the child, but at first glance, it looked like they were laughing at you behind your back!!
There was a bit in Thompson's book "So You Want to Wear the Kilt" that spoke about the glances, laughing, etc that people felt they experienced when out in a kilt. That picture helps validate his comment later on, that all the laughter, sideways glances, etc happen in life not because you are wearing a kilt.
Imagine how different that photo would have looked if the child was a bit further behind mrpharr and we couldn't see her. There would have been dozens of comments about how rude the people in the background were for pointing and laughing at a guy in a kilt.
