Kilted Hunting

I hunt in kilts, pheasants, quail, grouse, turkeys, geese. I dont hunt big game any more, if I did I would do it in a kilt. just watch for briars, ouch!! hey my dog is more tough than me, She hunts naked!

I haven't yet hunted while wearing my kilt, but I'm considering wearing it while tracking during the firearms deer season. I might wear it pass shooting waterfowl too, but as for Grouse and Woodcock hunting, I think brush pants are more appropriate for stomping around in the thick stuff behind my English Setter.

I've been deer hunting with my muzzleloader since last Saturday (Nov 4). I haven't worn my kilt, because, since I,m hunting from tree stands, i wear a safety harness. It would make wearing the kilt uncomfortable because the harness straps around the waist, chest, and around each thigh.

That makes sense. I always disliked being up in a tree stand (which attitude has probably contributed to my lousy success rate!). I prefer a comfortable seat on the ground, and wrapping up in a great kilt will add to the comfort factor. Plus (like the historic highlanders of old), I can flip a corner of the plaid over the gun lock to protect it from the elements....

I gave up on hunting the second year I ever went because the only thing I ever came back with was chickenpox.

I suppose if I were to take it up again, I would certainly try it kilted.
