Welcome to the forum. I've worn a kilt quite often when visiting Glasgow. Sometimes I have seen few if any other kilts being worn, yet on another occasions, particularly on Saturdays when there are football matches and weddings, I have usually seen plenty of other guys in kilts also.

Thanks, Julie, that's great to hear. I'll be flying into Glasgow 6 Oct 2007 for my first visit to my ancestor's home. I wear kilts all the time & am planning to do so on my visit, but my wife was wondering how that'd be viewed in Scotland. My response has been to adopt what I'm sure is a poor excuse for a Scottish accent & say, "Iffin ye canna weer a kilt 'n Scotland, woman, weer kin ye?" So, I'll be sure to show her your note.

And from the desert land of central Arizona, I give you a "warm" welcome to this fine kilted kommunity!

you will feel quite at home when you visit Scotland wearing your kilt. Walk down Edinburgh,s Royal Mile with its selection of kilt shops and you will know you are wearing the correct attire, you wont be the only kiltie there but remember dont wear anything underneath your kilt,it's not the proper way, i never have worn anything under mine and would feel uncomfortable wearing my Calvin Kleins

I wear my kilt most weekends in Glasgow, any excuse will do, yes you always get passing comments but they are all complimentary and I find that most guys want info from you about how and when you should wear a kilt. lots of guys want to wear the kilt but don't have the courage and when they see another guy wearing it, this motivates them to perhaps buy one or hire one for a future event
