I'm between a "happy dualist" and a "soft traditionalist". Even though we only have tartans on our site (right now), I have a couple solids and a camo in my closet... The ratio is something like 28:3 (Tartans : Contemporary).

I selected Happy Dualist because I still wear my Bear kilts, but I would think of myself more as a Soft Traditionalist.

I wonder if the proportion of kilters accepting/wearing modern mugs would be so high if the poll were carried out east of the Atlantic.
I'm fairly sure there would be a far higher percentage of traditionalists, especially as most of the the non-trads come from the western edge of the world, whereas the trads are built in Europe (or even fursther east).
(I'd put 21st century kilts in the trad category, considering the design)

How many Brits (leaving Hamish aside) have bought and worn utili- etc- kilts?

So far I only have the Unionkilts brown leather one which has side and rear pockets.

I certainly want a camo kilt which I expect I will get shortly. I did try one on and liked it and was going to buy it but having tried on the leather one opted for that instead!

Just want to point out that the poll is being carried out on the World Wide Web, not in North America, as your valuable contribution demonstrates. While participation in this forum may be skewed toward the US and Canada, we obviously have some very active participants from the Scotland, England and Wales, and points east. You're probably right that you'll find more traditionalists in the Auld Country, but as been hashed around many times, its beginning to look like you'll find more actual kilt wearers, (and kilts being worn) in the New World.

Down the middle for me. I love a good wool or PV 8 yd tartan like the rest of them but also see a time and need to throw on a Camo or solid when the right situation arises.
I do insist though that they be custom and good quality. I don't see the need for an ill fitting off the rack cheapy. I prefer they fit me weather they are a casual cut or full trad. style.

Two years ago I was a firm traditionalist, having worn only traditional kilts for over thirty years. Now, I'm a happy dualist. I even scrunch my socks down sometimes!
